The Honeymoon

One of the biggest things I've accomplished on my week off is booking the honeymoon. I'm SO happy to have this final "big check" ticked off! We decided on St. John, USVI. When looking for honeymoon locales, I was instantly drawn to St. John - I didn't want to go anywhere else. The smallest of the Virgin Islands, St. John is mostly preserve land. Beautiful beaches, not many people, and a lush forest to hike through - our dream locale. At first we were interested in staying at an eco-resort - but my one requirement for the honeymoon was my own bathroom (I'm not kidding, I didn't want a hotel or resort, even electricity - just a shack in the tropics with my new hubby). We love the idea of the eco-resort, and we're thinking of visiting one in the future for an anniversary. But for the honeymoon, we decided on a private villa. We're renting the Carnival Beach House, which sits right on Klein Bay. We get our own little house, with pool and beachfront. No one around to annoy us, no crying kids, no locals hawking wares. It's a dream come true. The photos make me drool. If I'm not back stateside after November 10, you know exactly where to find me!

The Rehearsal Dinner

One big check we got accomplished this week was booking a RD location. We've decided on The Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill. It was difficult finding a location close by with private dining area large enough and parking. Since FI's family is from New York, we had to do many reconnoissance missions to area restaurants to give them recommendations (Like we minded! One of the many things FI and I share is a deep love of food...). The CG was our hands down favorite, and will most definitely appeal to everyone. We had tried a Japanese place (Our favorite type of food) - but we knew that wouldn't appeal to everyone. There was also a hoity-toity type place where the food is small and delicate with interesting ingredients. Not for us. We're very excited about the CG since the location is perfect (right next to the wedding location) and we love the food. It has a very traditional, Boston feel - which will be great for our out of town guests. And servings are ENORMOUS - everyone will be taking something home as a midnight snack!
