The Makeup Trial

So before our engagement shoot this past weekend, I popped in to American Day Spa in Belmont and had my makeup trial with Elin. As you may remember, I became (only somewhat) obsessed with Katie Holmes' makeup for her recent cover shoot with Glamor magazine.

I couldn't be happier with how my makeup turned out. I think Elin really nailed the look I was going for. I'm still struggling with foundation though. I use Everyday Minerals and love the product, but I feel like I want/need heavier coverage. Although as you can see from the side by side, KH looks like she isn't even wearing foundation - just heavy on the eyes, pinched pink cheeks and a little gloss. So maybe keeping the light mineral foundation would be best. I don't want to look like a cake-face, I'm just hyper-critical of myself, especially my skin. 

Anyways - I'm really happy with the look overall and think it will be perfect for the wedding! I'm also really excited that I get to use my usual salon for hair and makeup since the wedding is local!

Engagement Pictures - Part I

We were lucky enough to have an engagement photo session with the incredibly talented Lisa Rigby this past weekend. More photos will be coming in a couple of weeks, but here is a shot to get started!

I'm hopelessly awkward in front of a camera, but Lisa is great - lots of energy and great direction. We shot at the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art), probably our favorite building in Boston. We attended their Halloween party, "Masked" this past year which lead to a lot of great ideas for our own wedding! We also hopped over to Fish Pier, just down the street, and shot in front of some great industrial doors (thanks to knottie eeyore for the inspiration!). 

Thankfully, the rain (mostly) held off and got some great shots. I can't wait to see the rest of the photos - because I will shamelessly post them everywhere I can! ;)

I also had my makeup trial with Elin at American Day Spa in Belmont. LOVED the way the makeup came out - she nailed the look I was going for. I'm not 100% happy with my foundation (I have to use my own due to allergies) so I may try to find a different one before the wedding - but overall I was really happy. I'll post a follow-up picture when I have one!
